Power Ranking Andy Reid’s Favorite Chinese Food Dishes

Andy Reid is a football genius, future hall of fame, Hawaiian shirt connoisseur, and grandfather of nine. At Super Bowl media day, he revealed the secret elixir that may be behind the longevity of his coaching career: Chinese food.

I am not sure I am 100% tracking on the whole “Sweet & Sour Pork makes you feel young but also old” thing BUT it got me thinking about which Chinese food’s might be Andy Reid’s favorite. In particular, which Chinese food’s might be his favorite based on his coaching style:

General Tso Chicken: Donovan McNabb, Alex Smith, and Patrick Mahomes. The key to a high-octane passing game is a field general. However, something tells me Zuo Zongtang might not adapt well to a West Coast offense.

Lo Mein: Everyone knows that a potent offense starts within the trenches. On the field: Low Man Wins. At the dinner table: Lo Mein Wins.

Barbecue Spareribs: When asked to describe an Andy Reid offense, most of Reid’s players would say “explosive”. Reid has a knack for “explosive” play calling which tells me that the primary culprit of my “explosive” IBS might be Reid’s order of choice. I often skip this one but you know who else sacrificed a spare rib? Adam.

Bok Choy: When I order Chinese food, I often have a moment of menu mismanagement and let a veggie slip into the order. I feel like given Andy Reid’s history of game mismanagement, he likely does the same.

Wonton Soup: An underrated dish and a fundamental part of the Chinese food experience. Nobody knows the fundamentals like Andy and he started showcasing that at an early age.

An already-enormous Andy Reid participates in a Punt, Pass, and Kick competition during a Monday Night Football game in 1971. They say he was 13, but I'm going to need to see a birth certificate. This is a short clip of a pass he threw from a CBS broadcast on November 7, 2010.
