NFL DFS Value Plays - Week 9

QB

Ryan Tannehill $7,400

I am back on Tannehill for another week despite a tough defensive matchup. Last week I mentioned that Tannehill was averaging 3x value this season. He went and put up a solid week (18.3 pts), yet his price still dropped. I still think Tannehill should be inside the Top 10.

Derek Carr $7,000

I love this matchup and Carr has been sneakily consistent this year. The Chargers have one of the worst passing defenses in the league and just traded away one of their veteran DBs. However, the Chargers have a solid offensive which has been reinvigorated by rookie QB Justin Herbert, so they can stay in games and make them competitive. Carr has hit 20+ points in 4 of 7 games this season - and that’s all he need to do to hit 3x value vs a porous defense.

RB

Chase Edmonds $7,400

Fantasy owners have been patiently waiting all season for Chase Edmonds to get more touches. On a limited workload, Edmonds has been productive - gaining 398 yds on just 55 touches this season. With Kenyan Drake ruled out this week, I expect at least 20 touches and 100+ yards for Edmonds this week. he is worth the price tag.

JK Dobbins $5,300

I think most DFS players will stay away from the Baltimore backfield this week given a tough matchup vs the top-ranked Colts rushing defense AND the uncertainty of who will be the lead RB. Every week, Gus Edwards has received more carries than Dobbins; however, I think the Ravens are going to need to rely on Dobbins’ pass-catching ability vs a tough front 7. Edwards has 0 catches on the year. I like Dobbins big play potential this week and versatility.

James Robinson & David Montgomery

Ok - I swore off both of these RBs three weeks ago after being burned multiple times. Unfortunately for me, both have juicy matchups and are two of the few workhorse RBs in the league. It pains me that I can’t make them an OFFICIAL value pick but wanted to point this out.

WR

Allen Robinson $6,900

The DFS salary adjusters have still not put respect on Robinson’s name. Through 8 weeks, Robinson is 2nd in Targets, 9th in Catches, and 7th in yards. This week you can get him for less than $7,000 against one of the worst passing defenses in the NFL.

Jamison Crowder $6,300

I think Crowder has a bit of post-hype sleeper value going into week 9. After a stellar first four games, Crowder has missed the last two games with injuries. He is Questionable for MNF this week, but I think he will play given the extra day off. With Flacco likely taking over QB duties for New York, I like Crowder even more as Flacco targeted him 23 times in his two starts.

Corey Davis $6,000

Davis was my best pick last week, putting up 22.8 pts for $5,400 (4.2x value). It looks like Davis has settled in as Tannehill’s volume WR (7.8 targets per game), while AJ Brown remains the deep-threat. His price has gone up a bit (rightfully so), but I still like him at this price despite a tough matchup.
